2023 -24 SCAHL Format change for U18


The League was recently advised by Troy Rider, the SCAHL Rep from Central Alberta, that the registrations for U18AA have been alarmingly low.

 

After discussions between Central Alberta and the SCAHL Executive, it was regrettably determined that the best path for this season would be to grant the CAS U18 program a one-year leave of absence.

 

The result leaves our U18 Division with 12 teams.  To balance the Divisions with 6 teams apiece, Wheatland has graciously consented to move to the North Division.

 

Following is the new format (note total games played increases from 32 to our more conventional 34 games):

 

U18 Division - 12 teams

 

North Conference (6)                       South Conference (6)

Airdrie                                                 Cranbrook

Bow Valley                                           Foothills

Olds                                                    Lethbridge

Red Deer                                             Medicine Hat

West Central                                        Okotoks

Regular Season Scheduling Format (start September 29 end March 3)

 

South Conference

Play 5 teams in conference x 4 for 20 games.

Play other conference 6 games.

Calgary 8 games.

Total Schedule = 34

 

North Conference

Play 5 teams in conference x 4 for 20 games.

Play other conference 6 games.

Calgary 8 games.

Total Schedule = 34
